Privacy Policy
Privacy Policy
Last updated 30 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Misbau LLC (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with Turn: Board Game Rules (“Turn”), our board-game rules reference website, mobile application, and related services (together, the “Services”).
Turn helps tabletop players find short, human-reviewed answers to rules questions for supported board games and provides links to the relevant official sources. Turn also lets users vote for, or propose, games for future coverage.
The short version: You do not need an account to use Turn. Rules searches are performed on your device and are not sent to us. We do not currently use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs, and we do not sell personal information. When you vote, Turn stores a randomly generated voter identifier on your device and sends that identifier with your vote so that the same browser cannot repeatedly vote for the same game. If you propose a game, we store the title you submit. If you subscribe, Apple or Google processes your payment and RevenueCat helps us validate and restore your subscription. Our hosting and security providers may process ordinary technical information needed to deliver and protect the Services.
If you have questions or concerns, contact us at [email protected].
Summary of key points
- Accounts: Turn currently has no user accounts and does not require sign-in.
- Rules searches: Search text is processed locally in your browser or app and is not transmitted to our database.
- Votes: We store a random voter identifier, the selected game candidate, and a timestamp.
- Game requests: We store the board-game title you submit and a timestamp.
- Local storage: Your browser stores your random voter identifier and a record of candidates you have voted for.
- Subscriptions: Apple or Google processes payment details. RevenueCat processes limited purchase and technical data to manage subscription access.
- Analytics and advertising: Turn does not currently use advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs.
- Sale of information: We do not sell personal information or share it for targeted advertising.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Game requests. If you propose a game for future coverage, we store the game title you enter and the date and time of the request. Please do not include your name, contact details, or other personal information in the game-title field.
- Communications. If you contact us for support, feedback, a privacy request, or to report a rules issue, we receive your email address, message, and any other information you choose to provide.
Voting information
When you cast a roadmap vote, Turn creates a random identifier for that browser or app installation (a “voter key”). We store the voter key with the candidate you selected and the date and time of the vote. The voter key is designed to prevent duplicate votes; it does not contain your name or email address. We do not attempt to use it to identify you.
Rules-search information
Your rules-search text is matched against Turn’s structured rules data locally on your device. We do not currently transmit or store the questions or keywords you type into the rules-search field. If we introduce optional search analytics or failed-search reporting in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, ask for consent before collecting it.
Technical and service information
When you access an online service, its hosting, network, and security providers may automatically process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect it. This may include your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser or device type, operating system, requested page, date and time, referring page, and security or error events. We use this information only as necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and prevent abuse of the Services.
Information we do not intentionally collect
Turn does not currently request access to your precise location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, health data, or advertising identifier. Turn has no user profiles, social feed, chat, or public user-generated content. We do not receive or store your payment-card details.
2. Information stored on your device
Turn uses browser or app storage to save:
- a randomly generated voter key; and
- a list of game candidates for which that installation has already voted.
This information supports voting integrity and lets Turn display a “Voted” state. It is not an advertising cookie and is not used to track you across unrelated services. You can remove it by clearing the site’s storage in your browser or, in a mobile app, by deleting the app or clearing its local data. Clearing local storage may reset the visible vote state, but it does not delete vote records already stored by us.
3. How we use information
We use the limited information described above to:
- provide, maintain, and improve Turn;
- validate subscription status, provide subscriber features, and restore purchases;
- record community votes and reduce duplicate voting;
- review proposed games and plan future rules coverage;
- respond to support, feedback, legal, and privacy enquiries;
- diagnose errors, maintain security, and prevent fraud or misuse;
- enforce our Terms of Use; and
- comply with applicable law and protect our rights and the rights of others.
We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
4. Legal bases for processing
If the laws of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another jurisdiction require a legal basis, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract to provide the Services and subscription features you request;
- Legitimate interests to operate Turn, maintain voting integrity, understand requested game coverage, secure the Services, and respond to users, where those interests are not overridden by your rights;
- Consent when you voluntarily provide information or where applicable law requires consent; and
- Legal obligations when processing is necessary to comply with law.
5. When and with whom we share information
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or use it to build advertising profiles.
We may disclose limited information to:
- Hosting, database, network, and security providers that deliver and protect the Services and store vote and game-request records on our behalf;
- Apple App Store and Google Play to offer, bill, renew, cancel, and refund subscriptions under their respective terms;
- RevenueCat to validate purchases, manage subscription entitlements, prevent purchase fraud, and support restoration across eligible devices;
- Email and support providers when you contact us;
- Professional advisers such as lawyers, auditors, and insurers where reasonably necessary;
- Authorities or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security; and
- A successor organisation in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganisation, or sale of all or part of our business, subject to appropriate protections.
Service providers may use information only to perform services for us or as otherwise permitted by their agreements and applicable law.
6. Subscriptions and payment information
If you start a Turn subscription or free trial through the Apple App Store or Google Play, the store processes your transaction under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your name, full payment-card number, security code, or bank-account details from the store.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscription access. Depending on your platform and configuration, RevenueCat may process a randomly generated app-user identifier, app and device information, IP address, country or region, subscription product, purchase and renewal dates, transaction and receipt data, trial or offer eligibility, entitlement status, and cancellation or expiration information. We use this information to unlock subscriber features, validate and restore purchases, understand subscription performance, respond to purchase issues, and prevent fraud.
Apple, Google, and RevenueCat handle information under their own policies:
7. Cookies, analytics, and tracking
Turn does not currently use third-party advertising cookies, advertising SDKs, or third-party analytics SDKs. The local voting information described in section 2 is necessary for that feature to work and is not used for advertising or cross-service tracking.
Our hosting or security infrastructure may use strictly necessary technologies to deliver the Services, balance traffic, prevent abuse, or maintain a secure session. If we later add non-essential analytics or similar technologies, we will update this policy and provide any notice or choice required by law.
8. Official sources and third-party links
Turn links to rulebooks, FAQs, publishers, designers, and other third-party resources. When you open a third-party link, that third party may receive technical information such as your IP address and browser details and will handle information under its own privacy policy. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party privacy practices. We encourage you to review the policy of any site you visit.
9. International transfers
Misbau LLC is based in the United Arab Emirates, and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have privacy laws different from those where you live. Where required, we rely on lawful transfer mechanisms and appropriate safeguards, such as contractual protections or recognised adequacy arrangements.
10. Data retention
- Votes and voter keys: retained while needed to preserve roadmap voting integrity and historical vote counts, unless deletion is required by law or the relevant candidate is removed.
- Game requests: retained while the request remains relevant to product planning, duplicate review, or rules coverage.
- Subscription records: retained by Apple, Google, and RevenueCat for as long as needed to administer, validate, restore, account for, and meet legal obligations relating to the subscription. We retain entitlement information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide subscription access and resolve purchase issues.
- Technical and security records: retained for the period reasonably necessary for operations, security, troubleshooting, and legal compliance, according to our providers’ retention settings.
- Correspondence: retained as long as reasonably needed to resolve your enquiry, maintain a record of the response, and meet legal obligations.
- Local information: remains on your device until you clear the site’s storage or remove the app or its data.
We may retain information for longer when required by law, necessary to establish or defend legal claims, or stored in secure backups pending routine deletion.
11. Data security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect the limited information we process. Our data-minimisation approach—including local rules search and the absence of user accounts—reduces privacy risk. However, no electronic transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children’s privacy
Turn is a general-audience rules reference service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or a higher minimum age where required by local law. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact [email protected] and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
13. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, or a copy of personal information; to object to or restrict processing; to withdraw consent; or to appeal a decision about your request. You may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority.
To exercise a right, email [email protected]. We may need information reasonably necessary to verify and respond to your request. Because voter keys are random and not linked to an account or email address, we may be unable to locate a particular vote record unless you provide the voter key stored on your device. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
14. Do-Not-Track and Global Privacy Control
Turn does not sell personal information or engage in cross-site targeted advertising. Because there is no such processing to opt out of, browser Do-Not-Track or Global Privacy Control signals do not change Turn’s current behaviour. We will reassess this statement if our practices change.
15. Regional privacy information
United States. Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information and to opt out of sale, targeted advertising, or certain profiling. Turn does not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or conduct profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects. Submit requests using the contact details below; if we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our response.
EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland. You may contact your local supervisory authority if you believe our processing infringes applicable data-protection law.
Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and South Africa. You may have rights of access and correction and may complain to the relevant privacy regulator.
United Arab Emirates. As a UAE-based company, we handle personal information in accordance with applicable UAE data-protection law.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Turn develops or legal requirements change. We will revise the “Last updated” date and, where changes are material, provide an appropriate additional notice. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
